In this new notebook the pages on the right (odd numbers) are blurry on the left. This is because the blank black notebook has a hard cover and the spine makes it impossible to flatten the embedded page against the scanner.
On Saturday 14th July 2007, I started to write a book about an island man, by writing ten pages a day. I did it for about a year and a half, more or less. This year, 2012, starting on Saturday July 14th, I'm going to scan all these pages in day by day and post them on this blog, for what it's worth.

A productive day and it seems as though work was on my mind. At the top of one of the pages it looks like I was working out prospective earnings and at the top of another it says 'Rachel 4:00'. I'm pretty sure this was the time of an interview and the name of an interviewer at Jury's Inn hotel. I didn't get the job.

After a fairly disastrous and soul-destroying weekend I could easily have fallen into despair today, but no, I decided to take a positive attitude, to swallow my pride and apologise even though I hadn't done anything wrong. 'Abject' was my word of the day. I wanted to show abject repentance.
So, I bought some flowers and waited until she went for her break at work, in a clothes shop in town. I hid behind a delivery van and watched her leave then went into her shop and left some flowers with her colleague to pass on.
When she came home she wasn't very impressed. She said it was going to take more than that.
