Monday 8th September 2008 (pp3830-41)

At this time there was a limit to the hours I could work because if I worked over a certain amount then I wouldn't receive housing benefit and would end up with less money. It was one of those unfortunate loophole constraint kind of situations. Presumably this meant we had a lot of time together.

Sunday 7th September 2008 (pp2826-9)

Five years later all that remains is the evidence of the time I spent on my own. Our time together is uncelebrated and unrecordered and for the most part unremembered. But I am making an effort to remember it. Does she ever think of me in this detail? There is no yearning in that question, just curiosity.

Saturday 6th September 2008 (pp3818-25)

Saturday morning would be an opportunity to spend some time together and go into town, maybe get some breakfast, maybe go to the market, get stuff we need, a newspaper, and then often have an argument, but sometimes not.

Friday 5th September 2008 (pp3809-17)

My girlfriend started working at Chiara's shop in Lewes, which was a relief because it meant I could have some time on my own some days and also that she would be bringing some money to the situation, well, a tiny bit, not really any actually.

Wednesday 3rd September 2008 (pp3788-97)

It's a bit of a blank patch here. I can't remember what it was like to be alive in September 2008. I can't remember what I was doing, except trying to finish my play about monks and pagans and explosions.

Monday 1st September 2008 (pp3770-7)

I went back to the play I was writing, after having left it for a long time. Don't know why I didn't just finish what I was doing. Fear of the end?
